My curiosity in humanity, and desire to be of service, led me to University College London where I graduated with a BS in Human Sciences in 1980 after volunteering for the Samaritans, a suicide hotline and at a hospital for children with epilepsy.
In 1988, I graduated from Hunter College School of Social Work. My practicum placements with abused and at risk children followed by a long term inpatient setting for research on personality disorders helped integrate this fascination in people with the Social Work profession. With a Master’s in Social Work, I worked for over a decade in the Department of Psychiatry, St Vincent’s Hospital, New York City; providing individual, group and family therapies plus assessment, diagnosis and referrals, to adults and adolescents on the inpatient, outpatient and triage units. In 2000, I began a private practice specializing in adults and teens, working on relationships, communication, and unhealthy patterns and behaviors.
Drawn to the role of the unconscious in therapy, I studied Hypnotherapy with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in 2001, integrating this technique to facilitate deep calm, heal pain (emotional and physical), try different behaviors and change perspectives. Inquisitive about alternative healings, I studied Reiki, became a Reiki Master in 2015 and incorporated Reiki into my practice.
During the pandemic, I studied Internal Family Systems therapy and how our system creates, usually unconsciously, “exile” and “protector” parts that keep our system feeling safe which leads to repetitive patterns that may not serve. Healing the unheard inner aspects of ourselves creates compassion and an opportunity to heal deeper wounds at their source. In 2025, I became certified in Brainspotting, a neuro-experiential healing model, which addresses trauma and emotional pain through focused brain-body techniques. Through finding and focusing on a “spot” where one’s eyes are drawn, we bypass the thinking part of our brain, allowing our system to heal.
My approach is tailored and adapted to each person’s need and process. I offer ways for people improve communication, resolve conflicts, facilitate relaxation and unconscious exploration, heal inner parts and achieve self alignment, address trauma and pain through brain-body techniques and help reduces uncomfortable experiences.
